Thanks for all the interest in my "Spinners Salad"!!! This a sample of one. I have about 20 of them going to Stitches with me. I didnt get pictures of many of them, but they are all different colors and combinations. I know I keep promising a webpage and we really are working on it. I think we can at least get an Etsy shop up and running. We have just been so busy getting ready for this show that some things fell through the cracks.
I had so much fun making these that I could do it all day. I think Richard did a great job turning the fiber into salad!!!! I did the first one and his all looked a ton better..........Some of them I just wanted to spin up right away........
Well......we just got here after an 8 and a half hour drive so I am tired beyond tired. Traveling with 7 dogs, a cat and a fish always makes for an adventure!!!!.......We are getting so good at it........
oh, it's a delicious-looking salad, penny! i can't believe you travel with all of your furry (and wet) friends...i'm so impressed! we traveled short distances with our late cat, and it was never easy.
What kind of dressing would you like with your salad Madame!!....
Our dogs love rides and rest stops and the cat is like she is on drugs...not a single meow....it is pretty hysterical at times and we get a lot of looks
ha! wow! i could never dream of travelling like that with the kitties we've had...enki would caterwaul for hours in the car, and then he would throw up. awful! and now, well...we have chickens and pretty soon some goats...THAT would be a ridiculous looking group of travelers, eh?
as for the salad dressing...it looks like i wouldn't need any! it's one of those perfectly-delicious-on-its-own kind of salads!
Yeah for spinnner salads! If it will get more people to step outside the roving box, then I am down! You are gonna do great. Get some rest cause it is going to be like a zoo! Holly
I am torn sometimes between rovings and just grabbing handsfull of stuff...guess it depends entirely on what it is....Like Marties rovings and Lynns rovings are just yummy by themselves, but then I get some of your dyed fiber and I just love it the way it is...Yikes!!!...it is all just to dang delightful!!!
We are fortunate to have so many choices!! Like you, I like using it all - it just depends on what type of spinning I'm doing. Fiber Smorgasboard (tm)I say!
Oh! That is beeyootiful! I do something similar which I call Mixed Bags - I do them a couple of times a year when I'm cleaning through stuff. I just did up about five while I was cleaning my studio - mostly they are leftover bits of roving (I have LOTS of that!) and locks, sari silk, etc. Whatever is hanging around. Instant gratification!!
Are you in Baltimore now? I can't wait to hear how that goes for you. You will do great and I bet you come away totally energized. Oh- and I bet Across the Universe is playing around Baltimore!
Thanks Lynn, we are at my Moms now and leave for Baltimore early Thursday morning. You have to be there by a certain time for the union guys to take your stuff to the booth....which is funny with our little bit of stuff.... It would be great to see that movie one night, I am thinking that I am going to have to wait for the video!!! I am reading Pattie Boyds book "Wonderful Tonight" right now..a simple quick read, what I life!!!....oh well....Do you spin your mixed bags? I will be putting lots of pictures and will keep everyone informed....XOPL
Union guys carry in your stuff, huh? I would think with all the skeins you've done you'd have a ton.
Eric Clapton has a book out too which gives his side of the whole Layla thing. I guess there was a lot of booze involved:)
And I have spun up my Mixed Bags. Mostly I've sold them in the loose fibers section of my website. I did a batch over the summer that was fleece I processed and dyed up and then mixed with angelina and other fun stuff. I enjoy spinning up the mixtures though it is kind of a different look for me.
Anyway, take lots of pics of the Stitches East and good luck.
yeah...they charge you 70.00...which of course you do not know about at first...
yes...Erics book should be on my door stoop when i get home....according to her book he drank two bottles of brandy a day and then ale at the pub along with the numerous drugs of the day....i dont know how these people survived!! i love reading this stuff....
I cannot believe it costs you $70 to get your stuff taken in?? You can't bring it in yourself?? Whoa. I guess this is the big time:)) Well, you will make it all back many, many times over.
yeah you have to have the union people take your stuff in because of insurance etc....and we have to tape everything shut and number it etc....after this show i guess it will be a piece of cake for us...
