How in the heck did we get to Thursday already?
Where on earth did the week go?
I am serious... it seems like yeseterday was Sunday. I love this time of year because so much is happening and there is such a sense of movement combined with nesting creating a wonderful feeling of contentment. But then I wonder if I really have enough time to enjoy it. It is the constant push pull of this life we live.
As an artist, this is a time of change and energy as life around us speeds up to prepare for the slowing of winter. As a dyer, the changes in color in my life are inspiring and renewing. The palate just did a big 180 turn around. And since I definitely dye what I see in my real life surroundings, it has give me new energy. I dyed a pot tonight that makes my heart sing. It is totally different then anything I have ever done before... but I love it. And that is why I do this... for the energy and color and fabulous locks. If I didn't love all the parts, I couldn't love the whole.
Ok, so those two paragraphs are probably more than I have written in a while. Why? Well, I realized since I moved I wasn't enjoying blogging and doing my computer work. It felt like work - a chore. And that was awful.
So, I sat down one night and tried to figure out the problem. The problem was that before, at the old house, I took my laptop outside with me and sat on my porch and got to enjoy the fresh air and the birds and basically sit quietly with nature while I played on the computer. So I would sit out there all night! I hated to go inside!
But at the new house, no screened in porch. When I take the dog out at night, I sit on the stoop. No wireless, so no portable laptop. And I decided to hook it up in my bedroom, so I could work on it when I came home at night. But that was NOT working. I was writing in my head - all the things I wanted to say but then it was too late by the time I made it to the room - so another day would pass. And another. And another!
And here we are.
So I moved my computer. Yup, it was just that easy. Well, that and I finally got the house in some semblance of order. I feel like this is my home now. So the art inside me is re-emerging. And the color is pouring from my fingertips into the dye pots. Love. Happy. Peaceful. That is how I feel.
And I think it shows in my dye pots - I hope!

OK, so back to pictures. I told you I had pictures of the boy in his Wifebeater. He wants all his Fluffy girl fan club girls to know that he is NOT a wife beater but that he does like his shirt! He thinks it shows off his muscles.
I love it Kris - it fits perfect!
Oh and he is sportin' some new jewelry from his girlfriend! I started this tag, but Ms. Monkeyfur made it awesome! The only reason it looks good is because of her! I think I was scaring her with the hammers!
I have been known to be whiney when I hurt my fingers. Hard to spin with hurt fingers!

He loves his new dog hardware! He thinks it is befitting of his personality!
So, hammering? Copper? What the heck?
Yup, the art girls got together and had ourselves a ball!
MetalSmithing!
Who knew it would be so much fun! I loved it! Of course, everything is fun when you sit down with all these supplies and get to just play! I watched for a minute just taking it all in.

I know - right - like going to an art store! It was FUN. Although I didn't know what half the stuff was for!

So, ya wanna see what I played with?
Mind you, it was my VERY first time even touching metal like this.. it was so much fun. I didn't even know what I was doing or what would happen when I did it! so bear that in mind.
Oh - and they let me use the TORCH! I usually am kinda sorta banned from the torches - something about not turning the oxygen on first or something,... I don't know.... the lampworkers kinda spazzzed - but that was in the past. With the big lampworking torches.
This time - they had a little hand held torch! So I got to play with FIRE. woohooo.
Apparently you use the fire/water/air to create extra color on the copper - fun! FIRE! Like fire.
(yeah, you can kinda see why they don't let me play with the torch that is connected to the tanks! Danger Will Robinson - Danger!)

This was after the firing - to bring out all the cool copper colors. It says -
Love YOU. Meaning, love yourself. I wanted to sort of hide it in the design, because loving yourself does not necessarily mean you have to stand up and shout it. But it should be a part of who you are - hidden. Love yourself - lumps and all - bumps and all - imperfections - each and every one.
Love. YOU. Every single day. Be kind to yourself.
Ok, so here was the back right out of the firing. The girls said this was the best part!

Apparently I did good with the torch! hehehehe
And after some cleaning and buffin and rubbin - the finished product.

I love it. I haven't worn it yet, but I am going to were the perfect shirt for it to show it off to its fullest! I love working with metal! It was so much fun! Plus, anything made with the Cool Art Girls is always special.
And finally - as usual when the art girls get together - art abound and gifties galore!
Dr. Meow made these fabu jewelery bags for everyone with the special no tarnish lining. She even printed some personalized labels! Although I think Marie helped with the technical aspect! Marie is very talented.
I adore it!

So after all that, Monkeyfur and I swung by Tie Dye Kris's new shop - at 3am! We felt like traveling celebrities with a private showing of a closed shop - to hide from the Paparazzi and all!!! It was a hoot!
I had so much fun, I forgot to take pictures!
But I did a little damage!

A girl has to have a new dress every now and again!

yup - Kris is a color genius! If you are in Ft. Walton Beach - definitely stop by her new shop!
YUP, so much love. Hard to imagine. It was a good time.
I was exhausted last weekend from the whirlwind trip but it was WONDERFUL.
Thank you so much my favorite Art girls!
Ok, I know, you are tired already cause I am so wordy tonight -but jut a few more pictures of the amazing lamb coopworth from last weeks update. It is a gorgeous soft long wool - about 6 to 7 inches usually.

And a few bags of Storm Frannie locks - wonderful medium soft locks from a fabulous sheep named Frannie.

Ok, well back to work. Enjoy the electricity in the air and the buzz of the energy around you.
And Love. YOU.
Always.
Holly
